We did this once before when we were much smaller (now we are almost 20,000 strong!) so I thought it would be a nice idea to create a thread to connect people in this community who share interests. I am borrowing this idea and the directions from
but tweaking it slightly since everyone here doesn’t necessarily write a Substack.
Here’s how it works:
In all caps, write the CATEGORIES of your Substack or your interests (if you don’t know them, just put the topics you write about or are interested in)
One sentence about what you write about/are interested in reading about.
One sentence about who you’re looking to connect with.
Find people who share your interests:
Introduce yourself.
Follow each other on Notes or subscribe to their newsletter (which will automatically mean you’re following them).
If you don’t know about Notes, it’s a great way to stay connected with people who share your interests.. Think of it as a sane Twitter where people are friendly and supportive of each other and share thoughtful information. Sounds dreamy, doesn’t it?
Don’t be shy—try to connect with at least one other person!
CREATIVITY, CURIOSITY, AND HOW TO BE AN ANTI-PERFECTIONIST
I'm a creativity coach and multipassionate creative who believes everyone has a creative gift to share and that we're all happiest and most alive when we're engaged with that gift. And even the most subtle forms of perfectionism keep us from doing that (I'm launching a course called MAKE BAD ART to help dislodge that perfectionism and get folks creating again).
I'm interested in reading/connecting with all sorts of folks--probably too many to list--but thoughtful perspectives on all aspects of life get my attention. Travel, midlife, being an aunt, anything offbeat, creative, nerdy (especially but not only Doctor Who)... all good. :)
APPROACHING [B]OLD AGE WITH BEGINNER’S MIND; OLDER WOMEN WRITERS AND CREATIVES
I write about what it’s REALLY like to get old, from the blessings to the bullshit. I host ELDERSTACK, a discussion space and community for [b]old women 60s, 70s, 80s on Substack.
SOBRIETY, SLOWING DOWN WITH INTENTION, DRY PARENTING, REINVENTION AT MID-LIFE
I am a sober focused mom and lawyer who is waking up to life here in mid-life, daring to speak up as a woman in recovery while writing my way back to myself. Start here to see what I am here to do
I would love to find other writers and readers who feel they are waking up to life, turning a different page in a new book and not afraid to feel all feelings. I am done with surface level small talk. There, I said it.
Love this. I, too, am waking up in midlife. I love my life, and I’m learning to love myself. I write about making the most of midlife without diets, guilt or deprivation.
Hi Clint! 6 months is a big deal. 💪🏻 Stay with it. The magic will come. Check out the Sober Stack here - it’s full of a directory of other sober writers. Lots to dig in there. You’re not alone in this. 💚
I wish to turn several new pages to the second book that I am writing. Its about making our social system better understood when we use logic to replace intuition.
SPAIN, TRAVEL, LIFE ABROAD IN EUROPE, SPANISH CULTURE, LANGUAGE LEARNING
As an American living in Spain for over ten years, I'd love to connect with others who are living abroad for the long haul. I love sharing stories about what makes life in Spain so special, observations about cultural nuances, the challenges of learning a second language as an adult, and even tips for traveling in Spain. I've already connected with so many like-minded people it'd be great to continue expanding the circle of connections!
Already following. Finding lots of overlap. Living in Italy...though I am German, I lived for a long time in the US and moved from California to Italy. So I love reading the experiences of others living in a foreign country (especially when Americans move to Europe).
So glad to meet you here! I am moving to Barcelona in March, where my daughter lives. I am very excited about it. I lived in Europe for 22 years previously (Sweden and Malta) and have a Swedish passport through my ex Swedish husband. Will be subscribing and hope we can have an exchange; would love to benefit from your experience.
What a fun move, Barcelona is a beautiful city! I'm sure your daughter will be a great resource moving to Barcelona but hope I can provide some insights too and definitely don't hesitate to reach out with anything I can help with! :)
Hola! I'm considering moving to Spain, so I just subscribed! I'm a single mom to a very well-traveled toddler. :) So far we've lived in Mexico, Italy, and the USA together. I can't wait to learn more about what makes Spain special. xo
I’m an integrative physician, author (Joy Is My Justice) and Tedx speaker who wants everyone to be able to access the best health information to live a more vibrant, connected and meaningful life.
Oh my gosh Allison, I LOVE meeting readers on here and it's even more sweet when I "bump" into them like this. I am so glad the book resonated and I LOVED doing the audio version. So grateful to be connected and have you join the community ❤️
GRIEF RELIEF & RELEASE/WRITE TO HEAL WORKSHOPS/GUEST POSTS WELCOME
I love to connect to those learning to live with loss-all death and non-death loss deserves to be seen, heard and witnessed. Let's get grief literate together!
You could argue life itself is grief. Those younger years were great with all the denial, but phew, this mid-life with all the bargaining and surrendering. 😊 Just bumped up from follower to subscriber!
FINDING MAGIC, AWE AND WONDER IN THE ORDINARY, MICRO-HABITS AND SMALL CHANGES THAT ADD UP TO THE BIG THINGS, THINGS TO DO TO FEEL MORE ALIVE, INTENTIONAL LIVING
Hi everyone, I'm Julie-Ann. I started writing about my own personal need to WAKE UP and feel more alive when for a long time I really hadn't felt that way. I write a daily micro action prompt to promote thought, inspiration and action on small things that add up to big things (when done, dailyish). I write mini essays with ideas on intentional living, fun lists and noticings from my week. I'd love to create a community where people are stepping into these micro daily actions and slowly, deliberately making micro changes that will roll up to all good things!
Hello, my name is Jo and I write at Seeds, Weeds and Wildflowers which is a journal for seekers of untamed edges, the imperfect and the meaningful. It’s a paean to the natural world, where the heart meets the earth. It’s for those who find feral beauty and mystery in nature, searching for the small to make sense of the vast, one tiny thrill at a time.
I’d love to connect with others who love nature and creativity, as well as music lovers who enjoy singer songwriter type music (I’m a musician) 👋🏼
Nature, creativity and beauty are so healing for the soul. I host a monthly radio show that features a lot of singer-songwriters (and I am one myself). Glad to connect!
I would love to connect with aspiring writers, parents of children with special needs, introverts, HSPs. I don’t write as often as I should, but I love the variety, depth, and kindness of Substack!
Hi everyone, I write mainly about: SOCIAL JUSTICE, POLITICAL, ENVIRONMENT and MENTAL HEALTH issues, plus OBSERVATIONS ON HUMAN BEHAVIOUR, based on my opinions and observations.
I'm passionate about these issues as they're deeply prevalent in our society and we should be more aware of and working to eradicate them.
I'm looking to connect with those who share the same interests in such issues/topics and with their own personal observations.
Social justice will be obtained when we all have equal opportunities to access useful sites of land, which is one of the three factors of production according to Adam Smith (1776 Wealth of Nations). Today speculators in growing site values hold them unused monopolistically until their value and usefulness rise due to town development. The town development is paid for by our municipal taxes, from which these greedy speculators benefit.
To repair our society and eliminate the effect of the monopolization of useful sites of land, a proposal was made in 1879 by Henry George in his classic book "Progress and Poverty". He proposed to introduce a single tax on land values (LVT) and to stop taxing everything else. Unfortunately the concept of another tax was politically unwelcome and this idea was tried in only a few places where it was successful to a limited degree because with its introduction other taxes were not stopped.
The effects of LVT would be: 17 Aspects of LVT Affecting Government, Land Owners, Communities and Ethics
Four Aspects for Government:
1. LVT, adds to the national income as do all other taxation systems, but it can and should replace them.
2. The cost of collecting the LVT is less than for all of the production-related taxes—then tax avoidance becomes impossible because the sites being taxed are visible to all.
3. Consumers pay less for their purchases due to lower production costs (see below). This creates greater satisfaction with the government’s management of national affairs.
4. The national economy stabilizes—it no longer experiences the 18-year business boom/bust cycle, due to periodic speculation in land values (see below).
Six Aspects Affecting Land Owners:
5. LVT is progressive--owners of the most potentially productive sites pay the most tax.
6. The land owner pays his LVT regardless of how his site is used. When fully developed, a large proportion of the ground-rent from tenants becomes the LVT, with the result that land has less sales-value but a significant "rental"-value (even when it is not being used).
7. LVT stops the speculation in land prices and any withholding of land from proper use is not worthwhile.
8. The introduction of LVT initially reduces the sales price of sites, (even though their rental value can still grow over long-term use). As more sites become available, the competition for them becomes less fierce so entrepreneurs are more active.
9. With LVT, land owners are unable to pass the tax on to their tenants as rent hikes, due to the reduced competition for access to the additional sites that come into use.
10. With LVT, land prices will initially drop. Speculators in land values will want to foreclose on their mortgages and withdraw their money for reinvestment. Therefore LVT should be introduced gradually, to allow these speculators sufficient time to transfer their money to company-shares etc., and simultaneously to meet the increased demand for produce (see below).
Three Aspects Regarding Communities:
11. With LVT, there is an incentive to use land for production or residence, rather than it being unused.
12. With LVT, greater working opportunities exist due to cheaper land and a greater number of available sites. Consumer goods become cheaper too, because entrepreneurs have less difficulty in starting-up their businesses and because they pay less ground-rent--demand grows, unemployment decreases.
13. Investment money is withdrawn from land and placed in durable capital goods. This means more advances in technology and cheaper goods too.
Four Aspects About Ethics:
14. The collection of taxes from productive effort and commerce is socially unjust. LVT replaces this extortion by gathering the surplus rental income, which comes without any exertion from the landowner or by the banks--LVT is a natural system of national income-gathering.
15. Bribery and corruption on information about land cease. Before, this was due to the leaking of news of municipal plans for housing and industrial development, causing shock-waves in local land prices (and municipal workers' and lawyers’ bank balances).
16. The improved and proper use of the more central land reduces the environmental damage due to a) unused sites being dumping-grounds, and b) the smaller amount of fossil-fuel use, when traveling between home and workplace.
17. Because the LVT eliminates the advantage that landlords currently hold over our society, LVT provides a greater equality of opportunity to earn a living. Entrepreneurs can operate in a natural way-- to provide more jobs. Then earnings will correspond to the value that the labor puts into the product or service. Consequently, after LVT has been properly introduced it will eliminate poverty and improve business ethics.
TAX LAND NOT LABOUR; TAX TAKINGS NOT MAKINGS!
I should add that I have an alternative proposal which effectively does the same thing, but without it being offensive to the landowners.
CALMNESS, AWE, AND SERENITY amidst TRYING TO WORK IN MALE DOMINATED INDUSTRIES THAT HAVEN’T YET NOTICED THE PATRIARCHY SUCKS FOR ALL OF US INCLUDING MEN.
I’m trying to strike the balance between being happy with the life I have, while being furious at how poorly the world is designed to treat all of us, men and women alike, while working in industries that seem determined to crush me into nothingness or mold me into a hardass girl boss. There is a better way to do life and I’m going to find it.
I see curiosity as a creative superpower that can help bridge gaps, spread joy, solve problems, and accept others.
Here's to connecting with artists who seek out new possibilities through their work and who wish to explore with other artists for both fun and challenging collaborations.
I write about the female founders who inspire me (and hopefully you!), inspirational women leaders and how in a world where women are overlooked and underestimated, we can close the gap in female entrepreneurship!
I'm looking to connect with purpose-led female founders and those who uplift, inspire and empower them.
Nancy, we opened a bookstore in Mexico awhile ago now; sold but it’s going strong. There were basically No bookstores in the state of Quintana Roo which includes Cancun, playa del Carmen, Tulum. We’d built a house first then opened a great little (15k books- English/Spanish) store. Our contractor thought we were crazy. The town had about 1k population, not even a sign on the highway for the town, but word of mouth made it happen. I had to have a bookstore in my new land, even if I brought it myself Alma Libre Libros—Free Spirit Books! Talk about running a biz in Mexico! We nearly got deported when our murky accountant refused to pay $100 USD fine! But all this does make for excellent reading— and it was wild wooly and a blast!! I think anything can be done if you put your mind to it!
Thank Nancy. I felt empowered, haha. It was really wonderful to found a bookstore in Mexico, as there just aren't any. People loved it, came from as far away as Chetumal (we were 30 miles from Cancun, Chetumal was 200 miles south). Truly if you build it, they Will come!
Due to this development the land near the new book store will increase in value. No doubt you would wish to speculate in it, but it would be more socially just if the municipality used the extra rent that this land can provide when it is properly used, to further develop the village and the resulting town that you have started.
I'm a creativity coach! I encourage people to follow their creative dreams and help them get unblocked and stay on track in their process. My current project right now is a course called Make Bad Art, which is designed for people who are DONE bending themselves to meet others' expectations and are ready to reconnect with their wild, adventurous, and brilliantly creative inner selves. All the details are at https://fyc.quest/MBA
Just subscribed. I recently closed a couple businesses (out of necessity) and moved to upstate NY. I’m in a transitional place right now trying to heal from all that transpired over the last few years and figure out my next step. I know I want to do something in the realm of helping women-owned business but working on what my niche would be. Looking forward to reading your work and learning about other incredible women like yourself and KP! ♥️
I’m sorry you’ve had a tough time. Running a business is tough.
If there are any female founder stories you think I should showcase, do let me know. I try to pick women who have some name recognition but started from their kitchen table or similar.
If you are interested in showcasing a woman physician who is retired, wrote a memoir, and is trying to make money selling eBooks and writing a newsletter I’m your person. I have invested a lot but I have not made any money, yet. Maybe a how-not-to spotlight.?!
RIGHTING NORTH AMERICA’S WRONGS/STOPPING CLIMATE CRISIS
I am only a Canadian with grand ambitions who has taken this course of action because of everything going wrong and almost nothing going right. However, my goal shall be reached by peaceful manners, by both public discourse and the ballot.
I seek to connect with journalists, activists, intellectuals, anyone who can help me make my voice heard.
REVIVING NUANCE IN PUBLIC CONVERSATION, EMBRACING LIFE'S MESSINESS/COMPLEXITY
I am a writer.editor.mother, and I write about ordinary life through the lens of "complicating what seems simple," from politics to religion to the way we spend money and time. I'm also interested in ways digital life/the algorithm distracts us from asking meaningful questions of our lives/society/our leaders.
READING, CREATIVITY, SEASONALITY, SLOWING DOWN TO FIND JOY AND INSPIRATION IN THE EVERYDAY
Hi! I'm Heather, a writer in Columbus, OH. I just celebrated a year on Substack writing a monthly newsletter sharing a recap of books read, recipes enjoyed and essays on feelings felt. Completing The Artist's Way this summer had been life-changing. Heading into year two, I'm expanding to interviewing book people and share more in-depth reflections on reading. I look forward to connecting with other readers and those reigniting their creativity and slowing down.
Thank you! And you're not alone, it's a big undertaking but even if you only get through a few exercises you can still walk away with some valuable insights.
I've stuck with the Morning Pages, although I'm finding I'm struggling to fill 3 pages this past week because I don't have anything left to "talk" about, lol... Also doing well with maintaining a 30-minutes a day art practice.
I have 2 Substacks, both about Italy. RAISING CHILDREN in SLOW LIFE ITALY and EASY AUTHENTIC ITALIAN PASTA RECIPES
- RAISING BAMBINO: How to bring up a child in slow life Italy, living and eating healthy, seasonally, sustainably, and balanced by a dual citizen mamma in N Italy since 2010.
- WEEKNIGHT PASTA FROM ITALY: Motivating you from slow life Italy with simple, seasonal, no-stress pasta recipes that Italians actually eat. 🍝
I'd love to connect with others who are interested in living slower and/or learning more about how we eat seasonally and simply in Italy - and how we raise children in Italy in this slower life philosophy! x Lolly
living in the very north of Italy since 8yrs. Moved there from San Francisco. Loving my life up there in the Italian mountains. -- Already subscribed to yours.
Hiii Kp! I’d love to connect with women - moms who are looking for accountability to walk in their purpose. Also want to connect with people moving through grief.
Heya, I‘m Leonie - I am creative and curious person who shares her pouring art, sweet moments, snarky comments, poetry and deep dives into underreported topicd.
I‘ve written about GB financing police violence against reguees in france, the importance of women behind the camera and Lee Millers incredible work and will soon publish a piece about women in espionage.
I love to read about ignored perspectives, focusing on one small topic or thing and things that are silly and make me laugh. I also want to find more content abbout endometriosis and neurodivergence.
I write weekly emails that teach and inspire you to build an audience for your non-fiction books because your email list is the single most crucial tool to your success.
I love connecting with speakers, academic experts & authors at The Skillful Scribbler:
How can you help me. My book is about making macroeconomics a true science to replace how it is currently badly taught. chestdher@gmail.com Would you like to see a free e-copy?

Hi Karen, I'm following you now. You may be interested in the anthologies of articles I curated from writers around Substack e.g. on Bereavement and grief, Dementia, https://www.carermentor.com/s/icare-stack. Carer Mentor's community thrives on the dynamic network of personal articles and essays about care-giving/receiving.
It's lovely to be connected Karen, Thanks to Kirsten.
You'll see several people/publications to connect to via the Bereavement Grief Anthology. I highly recommend Megan Devine's website Refuge in grief. xo
I provide with you with the stories and information that help you feel confident and convinced that your path of going Slow is the right way to go.
I write about the power of slow in a rushing, hectic world – and am convinced that we can all have a better life, work and world if we all shifted down a gear. Slow means doing everything at the right speed. Giving things and situations the time that they need. Doing less and prioritizing spending the right amount of time on the things that matter most to you.
I like to connect with people who believe in the power of slow as a tool for a better lifestyle and work. There are so many areas connected to this….
CAREGIVERS, CARERS, GIVING/RECEIVING CARE, HEALTH, HEALTHCARE, CULTURE, SELF-DEVELOPMENT, NAVIGATING LIFE (Eldercare/cardiovascular/Dementia/Arthritis/Osteoarthritis..etc)
Carer Mentor: Empathy and Inspiration is a community for anyone giving or receiving care. I'm interested in hearing personal reflections and experiences because I'm curating several anthologies as a dynamic, diverse resource.
My Publication is CARER MENTOR: Empathy and Inspiration. It's a hub of FREE practical tools, resources, and expert insights. A portal of hope. I recently evolved the Website index for easier navigation to articles. (https://www.carermentor.com/s/icare-stack)
SPIRITUALITY, THE FUTURE OF CHURCH, THE PRACTICE OF MINISTRY, RUNNING, TECHNOLOGY, ENTREPRENEURSHIP (and the intersection of all of these!)
I'm an Episcopal priest, ordained for 25 years. I've served traditional congregations most of my career, but in 2016 I founded Free Range Priest, my own ministry/business devoted to reimagining ministry in the 21st century. I'm passionate about the power of love to transform our lives, the practice of religion in a modern (mostly digital) age, everything tech, creating community, my fabulous husband (and our middle-aged, blended family love story), running and health, and my goofy Great Dane.
I live near Charlotte, NC, and I'm so happy to be here, meet all of you, and learn new things.
Kirsten just wanted to follow up and say thank you so much for creating this thread, I got 10 new subscribers which is honestly a pretty quick jump for someone with a smaller following, and it was likewise great for me to find new relevant Substacks I wasn't aware of. Having someone with your reach promote connections like this really goes a long way. <3
Hiya! I'm Hilary Hattenbach and in my Stack, IN WITH THE OLD, I share PRO-AGING TIPS (in my latest post, you can read about the house plants that help stave off dementia), MUSINGS ABOUT STYLE, CULTURE, HUMOR, AND SOMETIMES I WRITE ABOUT DONUTS!
I enjoy reading pro-aging posts and learning about inspirational people from all walks of life. I'm also interested in the arts, culture, entertainment, cartoons, travel, and humor. I'd love to connect with likeminded writers!
Hey everyone! 👋 I write a newsletter called The Half Marathoner, which is about RUNNING, READING, and LIVING, or as I like to say, a running newsletter that isn't just about running.
I'm looking to connect with people for whom the journey of fitness and athleticism is less about hitting certain metrics or numbers, and more about self-discovery and exploration. (If that makes sense!)
I love LOTS of other topics, though; I'm really all over the place in what I write about and read. Hope to connect with others interested in this journey too!
I HELP BUSY CATHOLIC WOMEN GROW CLOSER TO GOD. With podcasts, essays, live events, and challenges, I share everyday wisdom, advice, and prayer support for women who are seeking peace, balance and joy in daily living. I enjoy connecting with thoughtful people from all walks of life and many different faith backgrounds.
PERSONAL ESSAYS ABOUT WEALTH AND STATUS FROM A WEALTHY POV
I'm interested in personal essays, particularly those that deal with issues of wealth and status from a variety of viewpoints.
I'm interested in connecting with other Substack writers who live in NYC; one of the great rewards of Substack has been the opportunity to meet fellow writers IRL.
SPIRITUALITY, POETRY, FEMINISM, PHILOSOPHY, FEMININE LIFESTYLE, NATURE, MINIMALISM, SIMPLE LIFE
Hello! I’m a writer and psychic (spiritual) medium! I help people through a spiritual awakening and write on topics such as the amazing moments in the readings I do, how to navigate the emergence of psychic gifts, how to be more connected to all that is, including nature and deceased loved ones, how to live in rhythm with nature, deconstructing oppressive voices in your head, and coming into your magic. Listening to your spirit Guides, and Dreamtime! Spent 6 years as a postpartum life coach for mammas; it has my heart. Grew up Christian and now am a Witch!
I’m looking to connect with other Witches, women who are seeking to imbue their lives with more Feminine energy; seekers of the Sacred Feminine, and people who are super curious about the happenings on The Other Side 🥰😋
Hi Valerie, lovely to meet you. I'm following you now. You may be interested in my publication Carer Mentor: Empathy and Inspiration. I helped my Mum care for my Dad until he passed in 2020 from a litany of health issues. I look after my Mum now. In addition, I have a small mentoring company supporting clients to realise their career-life strategies. best wishes
GRIEF, LITERATURE, EXPLORING THE COMPLEXITIES OF HUMANNESS WITH NUANCE AND COMPASSION
I write about what it means to live a full life, usually through the lens of carrying grief after my son's death. I do this through personal essays, analyzing literature, and sometimes fiction.
I love to connect with others who have felt like they don't belong anywhere, who reject labels put on them by society, and who are trying to live more meaningfully.
I’m Laura I’m Italian, I love talking about food, travel, self improvement.
I also love gardening and drawing, from 1 months I have a page on Substack talking about my country and food of course, in the future I would talk about the other travel I had and about mental health (I’m not a doctor) so will be more about how having anxiety and panic attacks impacted on my life and how to fight them even if was for a small period, but I thought that maybe would be helpful, also I will talk about Frau Blucher (my thyroid) and the therapy I had to follow how my life changed etc. I know that talking about the thyroid isn’t a big thing but I haven’t found a lot of information when I had the therapy and now I would share what I learnt.
This is my page it’s called: “A cup of Espresso” because it’s one of the things I say more, and when I write I always have a cup of coffe on my side.
The last topic is the recipe of Cotoletta alla Bolognese and if u have never tasted it, that’s ur moment it’s DELICIOUS!!!
REFRAMING "THE GOOD LIFE", SYSTEM CHANGE, REGENERATION, OUT-OF-THE-BOX IDEAS
My substack explores thought-provoking reframings that help you us escape soul-sucking, exploitative systems and create new ones that foster a world of beauty, joy, meaning, care and regeneration. I believe we are in the midst of a story breakdown. And as the old narratives and systems break down, there is an opportunity to explore the world from a different viewpoint and to nurture alternatives: new worldviews, new ideas, new imaginations, new solutions. And that's what I curate and write about! 😉
I'm looking to connect with those who are actively building the new, more regenerative and joyful worlds I mentioned above. If you are one of those rebels or system-changers, do reach out!! :) Also happy of course to meet those who are just curious about my work!
Many Substacks provide serious takes on the most pressing issues of the day. Mine isn’t one of them. I serve up thoughtful satiric essays and thoroughly absurd humor pieces. I’m here to entertain. Delight. Dare I say beguile? Is this legally binding?
I’d love to connect with anyone who appreciates humor, along with people who write about their passions, whatever they may be. I have a broad range of interests, which I write about and like to read about as well.
Hi, Victoria! I just joined this thread about an hour ago so I missed a big chunk of the day. Stupid job, always getting in the way of more important things. I thought I was already following you but just double-checked and saw that I wasn’t. I’m sorry about that, but I’m following you now!
Gasp! So that clown with guffaws I was battling wasn't from Stantonland!? I was watching out for Halloween-Chris-tricks! I'll have to be extra wary now...
TRAVEL, RETIREMENT, MOVING ABROAD, AGING, LANGUAGE LEARNING, PERSONAL JOURNEYS, REBUILDING FITNESS
I write in Adventures in Age and Wonder about my own experiences as I journey through life, with a focus on(so far) on travel and on planning to retire abroad (outside of the US). I'm going off on a few tangents in my writing, but life is like that anyway!
I'd love to connect with other like-minded people at all stages of similar journeys, as well as with folks of a progressive political bent. I'm also interested in photography and other creative pursuits, and in topics I haven't thought of yet.
>>"connect with people interested in literature, writing craft, athletics, travel, and the pursuit of experience." << ...sounds like me. 🤣. Following now.
CHANGING THE CONVERSATION AROUND WOMEN’S HEALTH, WELLNESS, BODY IMAGE AND SELF-ESTEEM.
I suffered from disordered eating for 20 years, in and out of toxic diet culture, doing everything I could to stay thin while sacrificing my mental and emotional health and wellbeing. I write about the challenges we face in a modern society, addicted to antiquated and patriarchal themes and ideology around women’s health and body image.
I’m looking for women who are tired of the same old song and dance. Who want out of the toxic cycles of guilt and shame and who want to raise a new generation of women to love themselves and their bodies no matter what.
EMBRACING CHANGE & CREATING A NONTRADITIONAL LIFE, HEARTBREAK & RELATIONSHIPS
I'm a relationship coach and 41 year-old single mom to a very well-traveled toddler. After my divorce at 32, I left the USA and started traveling. I believe heartbreak can be our greatest gift if we allow it to be. I write essays to provide inspiration as you step into your next chapter, no matter how unconventional. 31 and going through heartbreak? (Been there.) 32 and ready to quit your job and pursue your own thing? (Worth it.) 33 and want to move abroad? (So rewarding.) 35 and learning a new language? (Ciao.) 38 and not sure if having kids is in the cards for you? (Hi.) 41 and a single mom? (That’s me.)
I'm looking to connect with other women who are creating unconventional lives for themselves, whatever that may look like in your world.
I'm Sarah, I'm a pastry chef from Belgium living in the UK and write about Belgian food and baking over at sarahfrison.substack.com where I have just launched my Fall recipe bundle with recipes for traditional Belgian treats for autumnal days.
If that's something you're interested in, come say hi👋. I'm also still looking for people who would like to review my holiday season book all about Belgian traditions and seasonal recipes for the holidays.
AGING. REBUILDING STRENGTH AND BALANCE. READING. SPIRITUALITY
During Pandemic I got very sedentary. Didn't realize I could lose my ability to go up & down steps or get up from the floor! Frightening fast aging due to lack of exercise. Joined a gym free (Silver Sneakers program), used a trainer to get started, and regaining muscle and balance. New challenge: a brain scan revealed Dementia onset. Not Alzheimers thankfully but a whole new thing to deal with.
Thx to this thread I will start writing and posting again.
Hi Marylou, I'm following you now. Have a look around Carer Mentor: Empathy and Inspiration there may be some community members, and articles that resonate or could be of service to you. This is a key section in the website: https://www.carermentor.com/s/icare-stack where you can look around. xo
LIVING A CREATIVE LIFE, HOW CREATIVITY AND TECHNOLOGY INTERSECT, MEMOIRS, NONFICTION WRITING, and I'd also like to explore more on meaningful social justice work, though I haven't done much writing in that realm, yet.
I'd love to find other writers who are new parents, writers interested in activism and social justice work, and people who like to read and talk about books of all kinds!
Travel, midlife, being an aunt, anything offbeat, creative, nerdy (especially but not only Doctor Who)... all good. :)
Love this! Following!!
Thanks--and thanks for setting up this fabulous thread!
Nice to meet you here Nancy, I am now subscribed!
Welcome, Amy! :)
Love running into you here, Nancy!
Why, hallo, you! Fancy meeting you here!
Hi Nancy, it is great to meet you here! I love that term "anti-perfectionist." :)
Me, too! I don’t know if anyone else has used it, but I love the energy of banishing perfectionism!
Yes to anti-perfectionist!
Hi from another 'anti perfectionist' who is celebrating midlife, loves to travel and is pursuing her creative dreams!! Following!
Nancy, this is terrific. Subscribing!

Hi there! I'm following you already from Italy! :-)
I can't wait to learn more about what makes Spain special. xo

So true.
You could argue life itself is grief. Those younger years were great with all the denial, but phew, this mid-life with all the bargaining and surrendering. 😊 Just bumped up from follower to subscriber!
Thank you. We are always grieving something. We often don't give ourselves permission to mourn and move through those non-death losses. Welcome!
Grief, in all its forms, has been a big part of my recovery. I'm down with getting grief literate! I love that.

NATURE AND THE SEASONS, CREATIVITY AND MUSIC
Hello, my name is Jo and I write at Seeds, Weeds and Wildflowers which is a journal for seekers of untamed edges, the imperfect and the meaningful. It’s a paean to the natural world, where the heart meets the earth. It’s for those who find feral beauty and mystery in nature, searching for the small to make sense of the vast, one tiny thrill at a time.
I’d love to connect with others who love nature and creativity, as well as music lovers who enjoy singer songwriter type music (I’m a musician) 👋🏼
My cup of tea! Will be following!
Thank you, Allison 😊

WRITING, SOUL/SPIRITUALITY, GENERATIONAL/80s.
I would love to connect with aspiring writers, parents of children with special needs, introverts, HSPs. I don’t write as often as I should, but I love the variety, depth, and kindness of Substack!
Hi from a fellow Gen-Xer! And introvert!

PURPOSE-LED WOMEN IN BUSINESS & LEADERSHIP
I write about the female founders who inspire me (and hopefully you!), inspirational women leaders and how in a world where women are overlooked and underestimated, we can close the gap in female entrepreneurship!
I'm looking to connect with purpose-led female founders and those who uplift, inspire and empower them.
Starting my business in the hope of inspiring others to embrace their authentic creative selves--following!
I love this!
Thank you! What’s your business?
I'm a creativity coach! I encourage people to follow their creative dreams and help them get unblocked and stay on track in their process. Thanks for following along Leanne.

I love to connect with others who have felt like they don't belong anywhere, who reject labels put on them by society, and who are trying to live more meaningfully.

Oh wow, that's amazing, Michelle. Followed.
Hi folks!

:) Also happy of course to meet those who are just curious about my work!
following. Calling myself a rebel against a rushing world.... Looking forward to reading your articles.
ohh love your substack as well! :)
thanks!!!!
HUMOR, CULTURE
Many Substacks provide serious takes on the most pressing issues of the day. Mine isn’t one of them. I serve up thoughtful satiric essays and thoroughly absurd humor pieces. I’m here to entertain. Delight. Dare I say beguile? Is this legally binding?
I’d love to connect with anyone who appreciates humor, along with people who write about their passions, whatever they may be. I have a broad range of interests, which I write about and like to read about as well.
Howdy, Chris! How's the note's category for Humour treating you?!
Maybe this is the trick…
LITERATURE, PHILOSOPHY, CREATIVITY, THE CRAFT OF WRITING, WORK CULTURE, TRAVEL, CYCLING AND FITNESS.
I write essays about moments of change and their physical and emotional aftermath.
I'm looking to connect with people interested in literature, writing craft, athletics, travel, and the pursuit of experience.
I write about the challenges we face in a modern society, addicted to antiquated and patriarchal themes and ideology around women’s health and body image.
https://bodytalkedu.substack.com
I’m looking for women who are tired of the same old song and dance. Who want out of the toxic cycles of guilt and shame and who want to raise a new generation of women to love themselves and their bodies no matter what.
Just subscribed! ♥️

FOOD/CULTURE
Here's an example of some of my memoir writing: https://writingbeyondthepage.substack.com/p/three-powerful-memoirs-you-wont-see
I'd love to find other writers who are new parents, writers interested in activism and social justice work, and people who like to read and talk about books of all kinds!
BEAUTY, LOVE, OUTDOORS, CARPENTRY AND WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD IT IS.
Retired carpenter, father, married 38 years, childhood in Europe, court jester in a previous life.
I like to read other poets and essayists and appreciate the subtle power of humor in almost all things.
